The term “mastering” implies the idea of mastery– which the French term matriçage does not evoke. Though it has always struck me as pretentious to define oneself as a master of anything whatsoever, the fact remains that I continually strive to achieve an ideal sound, one which makes simultaneous use of science and sensibility.
